On an Integral Equation
In the recent paper [2], the authors obtained new proofs on the existence and uniqueness of the solution of the Volterra linear equation. Applying their results, in this paper we express the exact and approximate solution of the equation in the field of Mikusi´nski operators, F, which corresponds to an integro–differential equation.
متن کاملPolar coordinate quantizers that minimize mean-squared error
A quantizer for complex data is defined by a partition of the complex plane and a representation point associated with each cell of the partition. A polar coordinate quantizer independently quantizes the magnitude and phase angle of complex data. We derive design equations for minimum mean-squared error polar coordinate quantizers and report some interesting theoretical results on their perform...
متن کاملEfficient Neural Codes That Minimize Lp Reconstruction Error
The efficient coding hypothesis assumes that biological sensory systems use neural codes that are optimized to best possibly represent the stimuli that occur in their environment. Most common models use information-theoretic measures, whereas alternative formulations propose incorporating downstream decoding performance. Here we provide a systematic evaluation of different optimality criteria u...
متن کاملError Analysis for Direct Linear Integral Equation Methods*
An error analysis of projection methods for solving linear integral equations of the second kind is presented. The relationships between several direct methods for solving integral equations are examined. It is shown that the error analysis given is applicable to other methods, including a modified Nyström method and certain degenerate kernel methods.
متن کاملAn Integral Representation of the Relative Entropy
Recently the identity of de Bruijn type between the relative entropy and the relative Fisher information with the reference moving has been unveiled by Verdú via MMSE in estimation theory. In this paper, we shall give another proof of this identity in more direct way that the derivative is calculated by applying integrations by part with the heat equation. We shall also derive an integral repre...
